In a recent interview with French YouTubers that go under the name Mcfly et Carlito, David Guetta revealed why Madonna turned down collaborating with him after he was nearly about to produce an entire album with her.
In an interesting conversation with the legendary French icon, David Coscas, and Raphaël Carlier who jointly run the YouTube channel discussed a number of things. One among them leads to Guetta making a rather interesting revelation about Madonna.
He explains about the time he met with the pop icon after remixing her famous single “Revolver” in 2009. He went on to say the two met over lunch and everything was going great to the extent of them even discussing how she loved the remix and would be interested in Guetta producing her next album. After a pleasant and productive conversation, Madonna asked Guetta what his astrological sign is, and he says soon after he told her he was a Scorpio, she abruptly ended the conversation and said they couldn’t work together.
While the entire interview is in French, it can be watched with English subtitles on YouTube. In the excerpt from this very part of the discussion, Guetta said, “She tells me that she loves my (“Revolver”) remix and she suggests that I produce her next album. I arrive for lunch. We talk about everything – the music, what she wants to do with the album. Super nice. It’s just her and me. Very relaxed, very cool. We have lunch. It’s happening. Very good and you wonder when we start working together.”
He then continues to the most intriguing part and says, “She asks me for my astrological sign. I answer her, “Scorpio.” Suddenly, she makes a face and she says to me, “I’m sorry, we’re not going to be able to work together. It was a pleasure to know you. Goodbye.”
While we don’t know about what lead Madonna to be being this strictly averse towards working with an artist who is one of the biggest names in dance music, solely due to his astrological sign, the fact remains. Madonna has in the past worked with a fellow artist who is a Scorpio in 1994 when she co-wrote “Bedtime Story” with Bjork. Not sure what went down there, but this revelation by Guetta has sure left us wondering, please do tell, Madonna!
