Last weekend, David Guetta hosted a two-hour long live stream through United at Home.
The event was a fundraiser to support incredible organizations such as the World Health Organization, Feeding South Florida, Feeding America, and the French Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris.
Doing his bit, Guetta also matched every dollar of donations made during the live stream. In just about two hours the stream raised a whopping $700,000.
For every dollar you give on https://t.co/FGbLGYFiJw during the live, I will match it!
All donations will go directly to the @WHO @FeedingSouthFL @FeedingAmerica and @FondationHPHF to help those in need during these challenging times 🙏🙏🙏— David Guetta (@davidguetta) April 18, 2020
While most live streams during times of quarantine have been from indoors, Guetta decided to have a Miami- ready production and take this one outdoors on a pool deck at the Icon Brickell. Due to the location, downtown Miami residents from all around the area could enjoy the performance live even from their own personal balconies.
The live stream generated massive buzz, large donations and also drew about 8000 local Miami residents in addition to the 12 million global viewers online. The entire live stream is saved on Guetta’s YouTube channel and can be watched here below.
In an official statement that followed, Guetta shared how humbled he was saying, “I’m still buzzing from what was an incredible night shared with many. Thank you to everyone who joined and to those who were able to donate. Although this is a very unusual time, it was magical to connect with you all through music last night. Most importantly, we’ve raised money that will help those who need it most.”
The power-packed live stream that kicked of with “Titanium” saw a bunch of guests join in including Bob Sinclair, Oliver Heldens, Alok and a number of football players as well, including Ludovic Giuly, Olivier Giroud and Robert Pires.
In these trying times the EDM community has shown up like no one else and this is just another testament to that. More power to everyone doing their bit to help those in need during these trying times of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
