If you’ve owned an Apple device with Siri anytime between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, you could be eligible for compensation from a new $95 million Siri settlement.
The class action lawsuit, Lopez v. Apple, alleges that Apple’s Siri voice assistant recorded private conversations without user consent, even when Siri was unintentionally activated. Plaintiffs claim the recordings were sometimes shared with third-party contractors and advertisers, violating user privacy.
Apple denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to the multi-million-dollar settlement to resolve the dispute.
What the Siri Settlement Is About
Filed in 2021, the lawsuit accuses Apple of capturing and sharing confidential audio via Siri-enabled devices. Users reported seeing targeted ads after private conversations, despite not intentionally activating Siri.
The complaint cited a 2019 Guardian investigation revealing that contractors hired by Apple regularly overheard personal discussions, including medical and financial details.
