Soundcloud may be hit by copyright infringement lawsuits

After failing to come to terms with record labels regarding their new subscription plan, the music service may well have said its goodbyes to the world.

SoundCloud is about to come under fire by the likes of Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which could force SoundCloud to shut down its services due to ‘massive copyright infringement’.

Sony has been relentless in giving in to SoundCloud’s demands after it removed entire catalogs of music from most of its artists’ accounts. Something similar that happened to Grooveshark earlier may be the future for SoundCloud as well. Grooveshark were made to surrender their website and wipe their entire site to please the same companies that SoundCloud is currently in trouble with.

With only Warner Music Group not suing SoundCloud since they reached an agreement, it will be interesting to see how and when further action is taken and what the future may hold for music streaming!
