Washington DC is gearing up for one of the most over-the-top events of the summer as Donald Trump prepares to host his long-awaited “Grand Military Parade and Celebration.”
It’s happening this Friday, June 14, and it’s not just about birthday candles and cake. The event doubles as a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and Trump’s 79th birthday, meaning all eyes are about to be on the capital.
Trump has promised a spectacle. In a Truth Social post, he teased, “We will celebrate a spectacular military parade in Washington, DC, like no other… [It’s] gonna be better and bigger than any parade we’ve ever had in this country.” And judging by the lineup, he might just be right.
The main parade begins at 6:30 pm ET, rolling along Constitution Avenue NW, from 15th Street to 23rd Street, right through the National Mall. Expect a full-force military show with nearly 7,000 soldiers, over 150 military vehicles, including iconic M1 Abrams tanks and Stryker armored carriers, and flyovers from around 50 aircraft, featuring helicopters and historical military planes.
If that’s not enough, the U.S. Army’s Golden Knights parachute team is set to put on a jumping performance near the White House Ellipse, and the entire day wraps up with a massive fireworks display at 9:45 pm.
There’s more than just the parade. The day kicks off at 8 am with a fitness competition and public festival on the National Mall. At 8:15 am, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The fitness competition runs from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and the festival, which includes military equipment demos, live music, and food vendors, lasts from 11 am to 6 pm. You’ll be able to enter the festival near the National Air and Space Museum off Seventh Street NW.
General admission viewing for the parade is open to all and begins at 2 pm ET, with plenty of space around the Washington Monument and along Constitution Avenue. However, those wanting a front-row view closer to the White House can register online for free tickets via the Army’s official event site. Ticket holders get access to special zones near the main viewing areas.
Security will be intense, with a huge presence from both military and law enforcement agencies across the city to manage the crowd and maintain order.
Once the parade ends, there’s still more on the agenda. At 8 pm, Trump will give a presidential address, lead an enlistment ceremony, and host a live concert on The Ellipse, all right before the grand fireworks show lights up the night sky.
Can’t make it in person? You’re covered. The entire event will be livestreamed on the U.S. Army’s YouTube channel and social media platforms. It won’t be aired on network TV like ABC, NBC, CBS, or FOX, but their streaming arms, ABC News Live, NBC News Now, and CBS News 24/7, will carry it. Plus, CNN and Fox News are expected to offer full coverage, including real-time commentary and behind-the-scenes looks.
This isn’t just another parade, it’s a full-on political and patriotic statement wrapped in red, white, and blue. Between tanks, flyovers, fireworks, and presidential speeches, Trump’s military birthday bash is all set to be loud, proud, and absolutely unforgettable. Whether you’re in DC or watching from your phone, Friday’s celebration is not one to miss.
