Alex Garland is reportedly eyeing Kit Connor to lead the cast of his upcoming Elden Ring movie.
According to Deadline, the 55-year-old filmmaker has held talks with the 21-year-old actor, who starred in Garland’s recent film Warfare. While no official offer has been made, both parties are said to be interested in teaming up again, pending schedule availability.
Garland, best known for directing Ex Machina and Annihilation, is developing a live-action adaptation of Elden Ring for A24. The project is still in early stages, but early buzz around casting hints at a bold approach to adapting FromSoftware’s dark fantasy world. If talks progress, Connor could be stepping into the boots of the Tarnished, an exile tasked with restoring order in the war-torn Lands Between.
In the original game, Elden Ring drops players into a massive open world full of twisted demigods, lost legacies, and brutal combat. The Tarnished character is customizable in the game, which means Garland has creative freedom to shape the role for a live-action narrative. With Connor’s rising star power and Garland’s reputation for mind-bending stories, this could be a standout entry in the video game movie genre.
Meanwhile, the Elden Ring universe continues to expand. Just yesterday, FromSoftware released Elden Ring: Nightreign, the franchise’s first multiplayer-focused spin-off. Available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC, Nightreign shifts the gameplay to a darker, co-op survival experience where players must face off against terrifying foes known as the Nightlords.
According to director Junya Ishizaki, Nightreign also includes post-game content for players who conquer the Nightlords. “We have incorporated some post-game or end-game features for players once they’ve gone through all of the Nightlords,” Ishizaki told IGN. “There’s enough core content to keep players engaged, but beyond that, we offer relic unlocking and new relic rites to deepen the gameplay even further.”
This expansion of the Elden Ring world in both film and gaming signals a major step for the franchise. It’s rare for a game as challenging and lore-heavy as Elden Ring to move into mainstream media, but Garland’s vision and A24’s track record suggest it’s in good hands.
For now, fans will have to wait and see if Kit Connor officially joins the Elden Ring movie. If the stars align, he may soon be navigating the Lands Between on the big screen, facing demigods, discovering hidden truths, and chasing the throne of Elden Lord.
Stay tuned as the Elden Ring movie continues to take shape.
