Get ready to throw your weekend plans out the window: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake might shadow-drop next week.
While Bethesda hasn’t confirmed anything yet, insider Jeff Grubb just claimed the long-rumored Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake will be quietly released during the week of April 21. That’s next week, folks. No pre-hype campaign, no countdown, just a sudden, glorious return to Cyrodiil.
Grubb broke the news on the Giant Bomb YouTube channel, saying:
“Let’s update on ‘Oblivion’ and the shadow-drop… The week of April 21, so basically the last week of this month – next week, essentially. It should shadow-drop then. I’ve gotten separate confirmation that that’s going to be the case.”
That lines up with earlier leaks from known source NateTheHate, who previously said the remake was aiming for June but had likely been moved up. In March, Nate posted that both the reveal and release were set for April, and a shadow drop was on the table.
There’s still no official word from Bethesda or Microsoft, but the buzz is real, and loud.
What we do know is that the remake is allegedly being built in Unreal Engine 5 by Virtuous Games, a studio known for working on high-end ports and remasters. Expect modernized combat, polished mechanics, and a visual overhaul that makes the classic 2006 RPG feel brand new.
This would be Bethesda’s first major shadow drop since Hi-Fi Rush, and considering Oblivion is still one of the most beloved RPGs of all time, the internet is ready to explode.
If the rumors are true, next week might be the moment every Elder Scrolls fan has been waiting for, without warning.
So keep your Game Pass app and Xbox dashboard close. Cyrodiil might be calling sooner than you think.
