Virtua Fighter 5 REVO Punches onto Switch 2 and More

Sega just dropped some exciting news for fighting game fans, Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is officially headed to Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox. That’s right, the iconic brawler is no longer a PC-exclusive.

This latest announcement brings the remastered title to consoles and makes it clear Sega’s not done with the Virtua Fighter franchise just yet.

The original Virtua Fighter series kicked off back in 1993, and since then, it’s earned its spot as one of the most respected fighting games ever. Earlier this year, Virtua Fighter 5 REVO launched on PC, giving the classic title a fresh layer of polish. But fans weren’t shy about asking for more, and Sega listened. Speaking during a livestream, Seiji Aoki, producer of the legacy Virtua Fighter projects, confirmed the multi-platform rollout.

“Since Virtua Fighter 5 REVO’s launch, we’ve heard your requests for multiplatform support via the official VF Discord and other channels,” Aoki said. “We on the development team want to give users on all platforms the opportunity to enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, so we are happy to bring you this announcement.”

The best part? It’s not just a straight port. Sega’s planning to add cross-play support across all platforms, which means you’ll be able to throw down with players no matter what system they’re on. And yes, rollback netcode, which helped the Steam version run super smooth, is coming to every version of the game too. That’s a big win for competitive players who need tight online performance.

But the team’s not stopping there. Aoki teased even more content is on the way, hinting this will be more than just a technical update. “We’re going to include even more content to make this more than a simple port, which we’ll tell you about in future updates,” he said.

So whether you’re a long-time Virtua Fighter fan or just looking to dive into one of the most technical fighters out there, this multiplatform release is shaping up to be the best version yet. And with Virtua Fighter 5 REVO making its way to the Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox, there’s no excuse not to step into the ring.
