You Can’t Buy “Evil Dead: The Game” Anymore – Here’s Why

Evil Dead: The Game has officially been pulled from digital storefronts.

If you were planning to grab a copy of the horror multiplayer game based on Sam Raimi’s cult classic franchise, it’s too late now, unless you already bought it. The game launched in 2022 across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms and was well-received by fans of the Evil Dead series. But as of now, it’s no longer available for purchase online.

Saber Interactive, the developer and publisher behind the title, confirmed the removal in a statement shared on the game’s Steam page. While new players won’t be able to buy it anymore, there’s some good news for those who already own it: the servers will remain online. So if you’ve got the game in your library, you can still jump in and enjoy the spooky co-op chaos with friends.

Saber said, “We can confirm we’ve begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.” They also took a moment to thank the game’s community, adding, “We appreciate all of your support.”

The reason behind the removal hasn’t been explicitly stated, but it likely ties into Saber’s shifting priorities. The studio has a packed slate of new projects, which includes some major IPs. Right now, they’re working on the third entry in the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine series, a survival title based on Jurassic Park, the chaotic shooter John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, and the much-anticipated remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

While Evil Dead: The Game might not be moving forward with new content or updates, it still has a fanbase keeping the spooky spirit alive. And with servers staying active, it won’t be disappearing completely, at least not for now. For horror fans, it’s bittersweet: the doors are closed to new players, but the chainsaws and boomsticks keep running for the ones already inside.
