A$AP Rocky is thriving in his dad life era, and he’s not shy about it. The rapper, 36, is loving every second of raising his two sons with Rihanna, RZA, who’s now two, and 21-month-old Riot. On The Run-Through with Vogue podcast, he got real about how parenthood has completely flipped his world, in the best way.
“Man, it’s amazing,” he said. “They’re still figuring out who they are, but seeing them interact with each other, with me, with their mom… it’s beautiful. It’s like you’re living your dream.”
And Rocky means that literally. He says fatherhood didn’t just change his life, it changed how he creates. “Being a father is my creative process now,” he said. “I just embodied it as a whole.” He didn’t grow up with a clear role model or iconic figure, but now, unintentionally, he’s become that for others. “I didn’t try to be that guy, but I wear it like a badge of honour.”
What really hits home is how much pride he takes in being hands-on. “I love that sh*t,” he said with a grin. “My dad was a proud dad. He taught me everything, how to be a gentleman and all that. I was prepared to be a dad my whole life, man.”
And Rihanna? She’s seeing the personalities of their boys unfold right in front of her. Talking to Harper’s Bazaar, she shared that RZA is a total empath. “He’s so magical. He loves music, melody, books, and water, bath time, swimming, pool, beach, anything,” she said.
Riot, on the other hand, is basically a human alarm clock. “He’s just hilarious. The second he wakes up, he starts squealing, not crying, just singing. I’m like, ‘OK, here we go!’” she laughed. “He’s not taking no for an answer from anyone. I don’t know where he came from, dude.”
There’s even some classic sibling energy going on at home. Rihanna admitted RZA needed time to adjust to being a big brother. Totally relatable. “Like all new siblings do,” she said. But now? “Riot knows he’s in charge.”
It’s chaos and magic rolled into one, but for Rocky and Rihanna, this is the life, and they’re clearly soaking in every wild, sweet, and unexpected moment.
