If you’re into electronic music, you’re probably familiar with Boiler Room, a global online music broadcasting platform streaming live music sessions around the world. It has made a rapid transformation from a cool house party on the internet to one of the most important opportunities for DJs and artists to showcase their skills. It’s a simple but really effective setup that’s captured some of the best DJ sets now available on YouTube from big names like Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox and many more.

India was an unexplored territory for Boiler Room who are known for their explorations around the world. On 21st November, to everyone’s delight, Boiler Room announced their first-ever show in India, a collaboration with Budweiser as part of a global series for “Budweiser X Boiler Room What’s Brewing In” featuring British producer Actress alongside Mumbai electronic artist Sandunes, Bengaluru’s _RHL and Oceantied.

The first ever Boiler Room India session took place on December 1, 2016 and it was certainly one for the books. The conventional drill of subscribing to the event for a chance to get on the guest list kept the fans anticipated about the venue and the intense build up to the gig didn’t disappoint one bit.

First up, to kick off the night was Sanaya Ardeshir aka Sandunes. The Mumbai based artist mesmerized the crowd with her magical sounds right from the first minute starting with a stunning intro and eventually manufacturing a blend of two-step and future garage, doing justice to the cross-continental touch she is known for.

Soon after Oceantied’s set, _RHL took over the decks and delivered arguably the best set of night dishing out his own productions with an infusion of dubstep, electronica and grime.

The main act, Darren Cunningham aka Actress, who is known for his daring experimentations in his sets and productions, started off his set in a very intricate manner, eventually delivering a monstrous high energy set, capping off a historic night in the Indian electronic music scene.

The first-ever Boiler Room India session was all sorts of epic and as we see India grow into one of the world’s finest musical hotbeds, we hope to see many more of such historic nights.
