Review: CYCLES Tour with Max Graham (Mumbai)

We were particularly excited about Max Graham’s return to India as he embarked on his Cycles Tour, where we were fortunate enough to catch his set at Boveda, Mumbai.

Curated by Submerge, the gig was set against the backdrop of the intimate yet feisty venue, much to the delight. Known for his high octane sets and energy, Max Graham embodied a new avatar, this time, doing a gritty techno set. The best thing about Max’s abilities, is to let the music do the talking, and this was exemplified at Boveda, more so with the change in style and the house party like venue with a bunch of people surrounding the booth at all times.

Intelligent dance music is the term to describe the music thrown down that night, with belters being dropped by the dozen. Max showcased some quality music, in a room full of well-versed techno fanatics. The venue set the perfect atmosphere for Max to display his expertise over the decks and craft a beautiful set, exuding confidence and finely crafted musical transitions, creating a musical journey for the listeners present.

Scheduled on a Sunday night, Boveda played host to a bunch of dance music purists and enthusiastic fans alike, in the ever changing realm of the techno scene. With the dance floor packed with maximum capacity, it was more than evident that the crowd was hit with a fresh wave of melodies and they didn’t want to leave just yet.

The sheer spectrum of the music played that night was enough to establish Max’s abilities both as an outstanding producer as well as a DJ. A highlight of the night also included Max’s trance influences and tracks mashed with the techno bombs, making it a perfect amalgamation of both genres.

The Sunday night did not prove to be much of a hindrance to attract the party goers that night and the dance floor capacity till the end of the show proved just that. The show sparked a fresh wave of enthusiasm towards the underground scene and provided a proper underground education to new fans present.

Coupled with good music and beautiful people, we were graced with many memories to take back home and wait for new experiences with upcoming shows. Special mention to Submerge with the meticulous management and Boveda for the hospitality.
