Gregori Klosman’s GURU imprint continues its rich vein of monster-hitting club form with a new, fierce workout from previously undiscovered producers Tim Shaft & The Double Drop. Progressive house producer Timur Shafiev and Russian duo The Double Drop’s track was selected as the winner of a recent GURU demo competition and gets the release its attitude deserves.
Whereas recent GURU bombs have been built on sheer energy and power, Hysteria manages to interplay raw strength and toughness with a more considered, melodic and subtle side to create a track that attacks the mind as well as the feet.
Dirty synths, crunching beats and bullish basslines work the early part of the track into a hectic soundscape. As the beat gains yet more power, Hysteria picks up monumental force and drive, surging forwards with a seemingly relentless determination. Then, with a deft hand, the collective seed in a beautiful sense of delicacy courtesy of some old school piano chords. The keys are joined by melodic basslines, which then morph and distort before exploding back into the intense fires of Hysteria. It’s a drop that Klosman himself would be proud of and a release that highlights GURU’s dedication to help nurture fresh and exciting talent.
