Britney Spears isn’t holding back. In a brutally honest Instagram post, the 43-year-old pop icon slammed two of her former partners, calling them “complete a***holes” and “cruel humans.” Though she didn’t name names, fans are speculating she was referring to ex-husbands Kevin Federline and Sam Asghari.
“I dated two f****** complete a**holes,” Britney wrote. “I realized I loved their dogs more than them, and I think it’s because their dogs bowed to me every time I entered the room!!!” she added, mixing humor with some serious shade.
The singer, best known for hits like Baby One More Time and Toxic, went on to describe her experience with these unnamed men as cold and lacking affection. “Now the guys were of course cruel humans that never even acknowledged [me] and never held my hand in the car for 6 years!!! I choose animals over people anyday!!!” she wrote.
The post continued with Britney expressing her frustration with people in general. “I’m so turned off by humanity and the way people have literally … I have no words!!!”
This emotional outburst comes just a few weeks after her most recent ex, Sam Asghari, spoke publicly about their marriage. During a recent episode of the Trading Secrets podcast, Sam revealed that he was the one who insisted on signing a prenup before their 2022 wedding.
“I wanted her to have a prenup,” Sam said. “I wanted to make sure she’s protected, because throughout her life, everybody-I don’t know one person that’s ever been in her life that didn’t take advantage of her. So it’s very sad. I wanted to make sure that I’m the person that [didn’t] do that.”
While his words sound supportive, Britney’s recent post paints a different picture of their relationship. It suggests a deep sense of neglect and emotional hurt, with her accusing these exes of being unkind and unloving.
Britney’s relationships have often been in the public eye, from her 55-hour marriage to Jason Alexander in 2004 to her three-year marriage with Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two sons, Sean, 19, and Jayden, 18. Her most recent marriage to Sam ended in 2024 after less than two years.
Though she didn’t name who exactly she was referring to, the message was loud and clear: Britney is done with toxic relationships. And she’d rather spend her time with animals who actually show her the love and respect she deserves.
Whether this is just a vent or a sign of a bigger emotional shift, one thing’s for sure, Britney is reclaiming her voice, one raw post at a time.
