Eva Amurri says she spent 20 years wanting a boob job but held back out of fear of judgment until turning 40 changed everything.
In a recent interview with PageSix, the 40-year-old actress and blogger revealed she underwent a breast reduction after putting it off for two decades because she was scared of being judged.
She said she’s happier than ever. “Oh my God, I’m so happy. I feel like they’ve never looked this good in my entire life, even when I was 18.” For Eva, this wasn’t just about aesthetics. It was about feeling like herself. “It’s so freeing and amazing to feel so comfortable in my own skin, to really look at myself and see myself proportional for the first time.”
But getting there took years. Despite wanting the surgery for ages, she convinced herself she didn’t need it, mainly out of fear of what people might say. “I wanted it for 20 years but because I was scared of judgment, I gaslit myself into thinking I didn’t have to feel totally comfortable in my body.”
The turning point came as she approached a couple of big life events: her 40th birthday and her wedding to fiancé Ian Hock. “I turned 40 last month. And I thought to myself… in the months leading up to my wedding, you know what? I’m turning 40 next year. I deserve this. I deserve the thing that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.”
Eva, who shares three kids, Marlowe, Major, and Mateo, with her ex-husband Kyle Martino, said she’s done worrying about other people’s opinions. This surgery wasn’t about chasing an unrealistic ideal, it was about finally giving herself the green light to feel good.
Her openness around body image comes just as her mom, Susan Sarandon, also reflected on motherhood and raising her kids in the chaos of a Hollywood career. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Susan talked about “dragging her kids all over the place” while filming. “Sometimes it was a little awkward because there was no picking up at school or whatever,” she admitted. “But at the end of the day, they look back at it now and they’re grateful.”
The honesty from both mother and daughter is refreshing. Eva Amurri didn’t try to dress up regarding the boob job or act like she didn’t care, she did. But after 20 years of hesitation, she finally chose to do something for herself. And it sounds like she’s not looking back.
