Kanye West is reigniting his custody battle with Kim Kardashian, accusing her of violating their agreement after allowing 11-year-old North West to attend the 2025 Met Gala without proper supervision.
The Donda rapper claims Kim left North alone during parts of the event, exposing her to chaotic media attention and violating their joint custody agreement. According to TMZ, Ye’s legal team fired off the letter to Kardashian’s attorney last Friday, and he’s not holding back.
The letter from Kanye accuses Kim of breaching their custody terms, which were finalized back in November 2022, by allegedly exploiting their kids for publicity. Kanye is particularly upset that North was reportedly left unattended in a car at one point during the Met Gala, calling it a safety risk. He also slammed Kim for continuing to post North’s photos and videos on social media, even though he’s made it publicly clear he doesn’t want their kids on those platforms.
Kanye’s issues don’t stop there. In the letter, he insists Kim has been keeping the kids from him altogether. He says he hasn’t seen their son Saint at all in 2025 and that his time with North, Chicago, and Psalm has been “unreasonably restricted.” He also posted recently on X, saying Kim has been ignoring their agreement about co-parenting and refusing him his rightful access to the children. He’s framing it as a major violation of their custody arrangement, which was supposed to guarantee equal decision-making and shared parenting responsibilities.
This isn’t the first time Kanye has taken his frustrations public against Kim Kardashian over the custody of their kids, but sending a cease and desist letter kicks things up several notches. The tone of the letter clearly suggests Kanye is preparing to escalate the matter if Kim doesn’t change course. It directly demands she stop undermining his parental rights and stop what he sees as using the kids for clout. Kim hasn’t responded publicly yet, but considering how high-profile both she and Kanye are, and how often their family life ends up in headlines, this probably isn’t the last we’ll hear about it.
Between North’s solo appearance at the Met Gala, Kanye West’s allegations of being shut out, and the legal fire Kanye is throwing Kim Kardashian’s way, the custody battle drama is getting harder to ignore. With both stars constantly in the spotlight, their custody battle is starting to look more like a courtroom showdown than a family arrangement.
