Olivia Culpo is knee-deep in baby prep and… family drama.
The model and former Miss Universe is currently pregnant with her first child with NFL star husband Christian McCaffrey, but instead of basking in baby bliss, she’s caught up in an emotional fallout with her sisters, Sophia and Aurora Culpo. Things hit a boiling point after Olivia’s baby shower in Rhode Island, and now she’s not even speaking to Sophia.
On the May 4 episode of the Casual Chaos podcast, which Sophia and Aurora co-host, they spilled the tea on the latest Culpo sister feud. Aurora explained that Olivia had planned a major baby shower in Rhode Island and a smaller “baby sprinkle” in Denver the same weekend as her birthday. Olivia told them not to stress about showing up. “She literally texted me on Wednesday, ‘Don’t worry about coming. I know it’s really out of the way,’” Aurora shared. So, they didn’t go. End of story? Not quite.
According to Aurora, Olivia didn’t take their absence lightly. “Olivia was having a huge baby shower in Rhode Island,” she said, and despite the text that made it sound optional, Olivia apparently got very upset. Things escalated, and now she’s not speaking to Sophia. While it might seem like a misunderstanding from the outside, for Olivia, who’s juggling pregnancy hormones, life changes, and public attention, it hit differently.
Let’s rewind a bit. Back in early March, Olivia and her 49ers running back husband, Christian McCaffrey, broke the internet when they announced they were expecting their first child. Olivia dropped the news on Instagram with a dreamy black-and-white maternity shoot, rocking a flowy dress while cradling her bump. “Next chapter, motherhood 🤍,” she wrote. It was a sweet, intimate reveal that had fans and celebs flooding her comments.
But pregnancy hasn’t just changed Olivia’s public life, it’s reshaped her private world too. In a March interview with PEOPLE, Olivia opened up about how much she’s relied on her mom during the early months of her pregnancy. “I feel like I have a lot of respect for my mom,” she said. “One thing that I realized through this experience of becoming a mom is actually how much I’ve needed my mom, which I didn’t anticipate.” She added that her mom had been a major support system, especially in the beginning when things were tough. “It’s just an ironic thought that you need your mom the most when you’re about to become a mom,” Olivia said.
Which makes this fight with her sisters even more emotional. Olivia’s baby shower was supposed to be a moment of love and support from those closest to her, not a trigger for sibling silence. Sure, she told them not to come, but who hasn’t said “it’s fine” when it really wasn’t? It’s the classic family miscommunication with a sprinkle of pregnancy emotions and a splash of hurt feelings.
The Culpo sisters have always had a complex dynamic. They’re tight-knit, but not without drama. Whether it’s their fashion empire, personal relationships, or public appearances, their lives are constantly under a microscope, and now, even a baby shower is becoming headline-worthy.
As for whether Olivia and Sophia will patch things up before baby McCaffrey arrives, only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure: family drama doesn’t stop just because you’re becoming a mom. It might even get a little more intense.
