Prince Harry just cracked open the royal family feud wider than ever, in a stunning new interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex said his father, King Charles, “won’t speak” to him, despite a cancer diagnosis, ongoing treatment, and five years of bitter fallout.
Harry, now 40, opened up about the breakdown of communication, unresolved security disputes, and his deep sadness over being estranged from his family.
“There have been so many disagreements,” Harry said, referencing the intense rift sparked after his and Meghan’s exit from royal duties in 2020. “Some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book… for lots of things. I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”
The most heartbreaking part? Harry’s belief that reconciliation may be running out of time. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he admitted.
Despite the royal distance, Harry believes the solution lies in Charles’ hands: “There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands… this whole thing could be resolved through him.”
The tension centers around Harry’s loss of taxpayer-funded police protection while in the UK, a move he’s been legally challenging. A recent appeal denial has only heightened his concern, and the emotional toll it’s taken is obvious. Harry said he cannot safely bring Meghan or their two children back to Britain because of the security risks.
“I miss parts of the UK, of course I do,” Harry said. “It’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children [where I came from].”
He added that the entire situation, at its core, is a family dispute that spiraled out of control. “If anything was to happen to me, my wife, or my father’s grandchildren… look where the responsibility lies,” Harry warned, with quiet rage in his voice.
Harry’s words were a rare window into the pain behind palace walls, a prince begging for peace while pointing directly at the throne.
