Rebel Wilson recently opened up about a terrifying accident she suffered while filming the action comedy Bride Hard.
The 45-year-old actress, best known for her role in Pitch Perfect, shared that she was nearly permanently disfigured in a freak on-set mishap.
While shooting her final scene as secret agent Sam, Rebel was accidentally hit in the face with a prop gun during a fight sequence. Speaking with Access Hollywood, she recalled the shocking moment:
“In a fight scene, a gun accidentally got whacked across my face. It was just a freak accident, and my nose got split open, so I left set. It was my last night of shooting. I was like, ‘How unlucky can I be?’”
The accident happened around 4 a.m. during the last night of filming. Medics on set immediately attended to the injury and quickly arranged for Rebel to be transported to a hospital. A plastic surgeon was called in to handle the wound, which required stitches.
“I was freaking out,” she admitted. “They take an ambulance and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn’t, I would have been permanently disfigured. So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can’t tell now.”
Rebel posted about the incident back in August 2023, sharing a photo of her bloodied face on her Instagram Story. She wrote, “NOT the way I wanted to end this movie! 3 stitches and in hospital last night after a stunt accident at 4am.”
Fans flooded her with support, and she later shared an update in a video, saying, “I just wanted to say thank you for all your well-wishes. I’ve actually been healing quite amazing. The stitches have dissolved out from my on-set accident last week.”
Despite the intense ending to her filming experience, Rebel was thrilled to reunite with her longtime friend and Pitch Perfect co-star Anna Camp, who also stars in Bride Hard.
“When I got this project and [saw] there was a girl’s squad in it, I immediately thought of Anna to play in it,” Rebel explained. “She’s so versatile of an actress, she could’ve played any of the roles. But Anna gravitated towards the best friend role.”
Now fully healed, Rebel is looking forward to the release of Bride Hard and grateful that the accident didn’t leave any lasting damage. Her story highlights the unexpected dangers actors can face even in controlled stunt environments.
The good news? She’s healthy, recovered, and still got that signature Rebel spark.
