Olympic legend Simone Biles and her hubby Jonathan Owens made a sparkling entrance at tonight’s 2025 Met Gala, with the theme of Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. You’d think becoming a world-class champion record-breaking gymnast would be hard enough, but according to Ms. Simone, prepping for the Olympics is practically a cakewalk in comparison to getting ready for The Met.
The 28-year-old gymnast dazzled the 2025 Met Gala in her custom blue mini dress, designed to perfection by Harbison Studio. When standing alongside her NFL husband Jonathan, the star-studded pair were asked by Vogue which was easier: preparing for the worldwide Olympics or The Met?
Both didn’t hesitate to answer. According to the happy couple, Anna Wintour’s Met Gala event is much more stressful. “I got in yesterday, we did all the fittings, so it’s just more stressful,” Simone spilled to Vogue. And as for Jonathan? “Definitely The Met.”
But despite how difficult it was to prepare for the event, both are making the most out of the situation. When asked by Vogue if they consider The Met Gala their own version of “Date Night,” the couple gave a heartwarming answer.
According to the married duo, it’s the perfect date night for the two of them, especially considering the fact that they’re celebrating their wedding anniversary tomorrow! Simone admitted how special their night is at The Met Gala, since they’re long distance, so it’s not always easy for them to go out together. Fortunately, though, the distance allows their rekindled time to be all the more memorable.
How did Simone Biles Meet Her Husband Jonathan Owens?
Simone Biles met her one true amore after matching with him on the dating app, Raya. The pair matched at the height of the pandemic in 2020, and as the couple reveals, Simone was the one to make the first move.
Their relationship sparked controversy though, after an interview went viral of Jonathan claiming he was the “prize” in their courtship. To add fuel to the fire, he further claimed that he didn’t know who Simone Biles was, despite her worldwide acclaim. (The 28-year-old made history as the most decorated gymnast of all time.)
Yet as time passed fans noticed how happy Simone appeared with Jonathan, and began to warm up to their longstanding relationship. The lovebirds officially wed back in 2023. According to the couple, they have plans of growing their family as soon as possible. “I’ve always wanted to be a mother,” Simone gushed at the Kentucky Derby on May 3 (Per E! News.) “To have kids and just like him – he’s always wanted to be a dad.”
It seems as though the obvious choice would be for their kids to become little athletes, just like their parents. But whether or not their little ones will follow in their footsteps, Simone says she’ll be quick to support them no matter what hobby they eventually pursue. “If they turn into musicians, who cares?” the record-breaking gymnast sweetly said. “That is still phenomenal.” She continued, adding, “We are obviously gonna put them in sports in the beginning so they get their bearings and learn. But other than that, we don’t really care what they do as long as they find their passion.”
