Yet as more and more insider reports came to light, fans began to uncover the true reason that led to Garfield and Stone’s split. According to Us Weekly, their romance took a turn for the worse when Garfield was shooting the film “Silence,” in which he plays a Jesuit from the 1600s. While already known for his slender physique, Garfield had to drop a whopping 40 pounds for the role. This took a toll on his mental well-being and had an ultimately negative impact on his relationship with Stone as a result.
