Since he exploded onto the scene, it’s safe to say rising Dutch talent Marc Volt has quickly become a name hot on everyone’s lips.

With a record collection full of sexy vibes and dirty bass-driven grooves, he has been grabbing the attention of many A-List stars such as Hardwell, Martin Garrix, Afrojack and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who have all thrown their weight behind his perfectly crafted studio productions.

Marc’s latest masterpiece comes in the form of ‘Microwaved Elephants’, an Electro infused Progressive anthem which was released on Adrien Mezsi’s imprint Mezsed Up. We jumped at the opportunity to chat to Marc about all things ‘Microwaved Elephants’.

T.H.E – Hi Marc, thanks for taking time to answer these few questions. For those who aren’t familiar with you, can you describe a typical Marc Volt track using only five words?

Marc – A typical Marc Volt track would be described as ‘different’. At least, that’s what I challenge myself to do. Other than that I think my sound is mostly sub orientated, influenced by the 80’s and always has a certain groove.

T.H.E – You have just released your newest single ‘Microwaved Elephants’. How did the idea for the single come about?

Marc – I was actually sitting in the studio early in the morning and I was messing around with this bass-groove, that’s basically the key of this track. Without it, the track just falls apart – everything leans on that mid/low end. Then I found these vocal samples from old recordings, made them sound even older, and that’s how this track was born.

T.H.E – ‘Microwaved Elephants’ was released on Adrien Mezsi’s Mezsed Up imprint. Can you tell us a bit about why you decided to release the track on the label?

Marc – Adrien is such a cool guy, he has this great taste when it comes to artwork and online presentation, and you obviously can’t deny his label is on fire! I find it important to choose labels that support a certain vision.

T.H.E – The track has already gained a lot of widespread DJ support, including DubVision, Promise Land and Laidback Luke. How does it make you feel when A-List DJs support your record?

Marc – It’s great to see DJ’s daring to play unknown/different stuff these days, it makes me proud and motivates me to push things even further than this!

T.H.E – Do you mix and master your own productions or do you get help from an engineer?

Marc – I do everything myself. I am a total control-freak so I wouldn’t be comfortable handing over work to someone else I guess.

T.H.E – How long did it take to produce the single?

Marc – I think I did the production in 1 day actually! Mixing, fine-tuning and mastering took a week or so.

T.H.E – Will you be doing a video production walkthrough of the track?

Marc – That is not a bad idea at all! I will look into that.

T.H.E – Where did you get your inspiration from when producing the track?

Marc – I get inspiration from a lot of things, as well as music. I often take walks, sit in nature or listen to sounds when I’m on the road. I guess you could say half the production happens in my head when I’m out of the studio.

T.H.E – Can we expect a follow up to ‘Microwaved Elephants’ in a similar style?

Marc – Well, I always try to re-invent sounds as I begin projects, so there will be no exact same sounds in the next release, but in terms of sounds and vibes, definitely yes.

T.H.E – What can we expect in terms of future releases and plans from Marc Volt?

Marc – I will release my next track somewhere in the week before ADE, probably end of October, so I’m really excited about that. Also, I’m thinking of giving away a new track of mine for free, so keep an eye on my Soundcloud page for that!
