21-year old songwriter and producer CADE is on fire. He officially dropped the first single of his upcoming ‘Warning Sign’ EP, its title track fulfilling a stunning first 2018 release.
Destined for a bright future, it only made sense for us to catch up with CADE and do what we do best, speak to him about his accomplishments so far, on goals that he is yet to accomplish, perfecting a special live performance for touring, and more. Read our chat below.
T.H.E – Hi Cade! How’s it going and what have you been up to?
CADE – Hi! I’m great, thanks! I’ve been at home in Los Angeles, California writing new music, and traveling playing shows on the weekends. No complaints!
T.H.E – For a 21 year old, you have traversed through various genres, from future R&B to electronic dance music. When do you think you will settle on a particular, fixed sound? Or is it your intention to continue experimenting, and evolving your sound?
CADE – As far as my sound goes, I don’t like to ‘box myself in’ and force my music to go a certain direction. I prefer to let every song have its own direction based on how it makes me feel. That being said, I love future R&B and electronic music and I hope to bridge the gap between the two genres (if that makes sense. hahah).
T.H.E – You’ve accomplished quite a lot considering your young age. What are some of the goals you have set yourself that you are yet to accomplish?
CADE – Thank you so much! Ah, there are so many, but to name a few, I’d love to go on a headlining world tour, win a grammy, and have a Billboard #1 song :)
T.H.E – Up next for you on the touring front, is the SHVR Ground Festival in Jakarta. What can fans expect from your set?
CADE – Fans can expect a lot of energy, a BRAND NEW set, and maybe even some surprises ;) We put a lot of love into putting this set together. I’ve really been looking forward to coming to Indonesia!
T.H.E – For touring, you have perfected a special live performance. Could you elaborate on that?
CADE – Yes! I have spending a lot of time focusing on putting together a brand new live show following my new EP, Warning Sign. The show feels non-stop, like a DJ set, but I sing and occasionally include keys and guitar, which I use while writing the music in the studio! My brother DJ’s for me as well!
T.H.E – What is it that you like the most about touring?
CADE – I love touring because I get to meet so many amazing people, and see places all over the world that I’ve never seen before. So many fun memories and great moments are created while traveling.
T.H.E – Time for some fun ones, if you were arrested with no explanation, what would your friends and family assume you had done?
CADE – Probably smoking weed somewhere I shouldn’t be… it’s legal here in California ;) Hahaha
T.H.E – In one sentence, how would you sum up the internet?
CADE – The internet is the best and worst thing that was ever invented.
T.H.E – What’s invisible but you wish people could see?
CADE – That life is better when you do what you love, no matter what people might tell you.
