T.H.E Interview – Fox Stevenson

Fox Stevenson

Unhindered by the constraints of a particular genre, Fox Stevenson (formerly “Stan SB”) pushes against imposed limitations.

Growing up in an artistic environment, with a musician, writer, and theater director for a father, Fox didn’t need much prodding to explore art from the inside-out. Laying down his tracks from scratch, he will also write and perform his own vocals. As a live musician, he is unafraid to pick up the guitar, drums, bass, or mix a live DJ set on stage.

We caught up with him, and talked about his new EP, plans for 2018, and 5 artists he would like to collaborate with.

T.H.E – Hey Stanley! How’s it going and what have you been up to?

Fox Stevenson – Hey! Been making music, working hard, and trying to get better at playing the guitar, haha. And I’m playing games a bit, but focusing more on music than games at the moment. Working hard at the same things I always am, pretty much.

T.H.E – Tell us about your brand new EP which drops on Liquicity Records. How did it come about?

Fox Stevenson – “Never Before” has existed forever; it’s old as f*ck, haha. The track has existed for a really long time, probably somewhere close to 2 or 3 years. And then “Glue Gun” is very, very young. I think they complement each other really well. “Glue Gun” came together in a really cool way. I’m glad it’s more of a journey than something that repeats itself. I’m happy that that’s how it came out.

T.H.E – We are especially big fans of the track “Glue Gun”. What is the message with the title that you wish to share with your fans?

Fox Stevenson – That’s up to them!

T.H.E – 2018 seems to have started on a promising note. What are your plans for the rest of the year?

Fox Stevenson – Secret ones that I can’t talk about, but really cool ones that I’m really excited about. Hopefully the headwork I’ve been doing in the background for the last few years will finally see the light of day.

T.H.E – Here’s something that is more industry specific: Avicii’s death has caused a lot of debate amongst the industry, on the overwhelming pressure that artists seem to face, especially with the heavy, taxing schedule that touring sometimes seems to follow. What are your views on it?

Fox Stevenson – To me, it’s hard because everyone you meet is so temporary and you’re temporary in their lives so you never feel like an important permanent fixture in anyone’s lives. And that can lead to some pretty sad things. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Then imagine adding sleep deprivation to that.

T.H.E – Now time for some fun ones: If you could switch two movie characters, what switch would lead to the most inappropriate movies?

Fox Stevenson – Put Will Ferrell’s Elf on the Titanic

T.H.E – If your job gave you a surprise three-day paid break to rest and recuperate, what would you do with those three days?

Fox Stevenson – Make music hahaha. Still make music. I did this far before there was any interest in money. That, or I’d play Dragon Ball.

T.H.E – What was the last photo you took?

Fox Stevenson –
