Read our chat with Luca Schreiner where he speaks about his love for house music, the importance of music videos, and his plans for 2019.

T.H.E – Hey Luca! Welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials. How has 2019 kicked off for you?

Luca Schreiner – Hey guys – thanks for having me!! 2019 kicked off great. I’ve been working on so many new songs, which I hope I can show to everyone soon!

T.H.E – Your father is involved in the electronic music industry. Could you elaborate on it?

Luca Schreiner – Yeah, my dad runs a music distribution company for over 27 years now. So I’ve always been in touch with music from a very young age on. With all his experience in the scene, he has helped me take the first steps and is always there for me if I need his advice. It’s just great to have someone in your family that understands that much about the scene and the music.

T.H.E – House music seems to largely be where your sounds can be categorized. What is it about this genre that you like the most?

Luca Schreiner – I love how the people are into the music! Every time I get to play at an electronic music festival I always see people who are really into it and just enjoy every moment they can experience with their friends and the music playing!

T.H.E – You were a music producer for 4 years, before you stepped out of the shadows. How did that happen?

Luca Schreiner – I actually released some music before that too, but under a different artist name and the music was also kind of different. After these four years of producing and after only releasing a few singles, I felt like my sounds were finally there to be shown to a bigger audience.

T.H.E – How would you describe the scene in Germany? Which German artists are doing extremely well, according to you?

Luca Schreiner – I think the scene is extremely growing here in Germany. We have a lot of great festivals here like World Club Dome, New Horizons, Tante Mia Tanzt and more that are growing every year! With that, also new artists come up. I think BRANDON is definitely someone to look at, who also comes from Germany. He is doing extremely well within the G-House genre!

T.H.E – Your remix of ‘Baby’ crossed over a million streams on Spotify. How did that feel like, and what were some of the toughest challenges that you faced, while remixing the tune?

Luca Schreiner – This song was really a challenge, since the original is quite unique and has a special harmony to it which made it hard to make a decent dance record out of it at first. But I think I found a great way of keeping the original vibe and still bringing in my own sounds while making it danceable for the clubs and festivals!

T.H.E – Talk us through a day in the studio, how do you get inspired, which parts of the track are the most important to you, and what do you begin with, first?

Luca Schreiner – I think the most important elements of a song are the melody and the vocal! So when I start a new song I always try and get my melodies right. As soon as I have a great sounding melody and some catchy chords to it I move on to the other elements of the song.

T.H.E – Love the music video for ‘Over You’. How was it working on it, and who was the director?

Luca Schreiner – The director was GUGU Productions from Italy! They already directed & shot my first music video for „Missing“ which was super special to me. I really love the way they captured the emotions and feelings in the music video for „Over You“! I think it’s a great visualization of what the song is all about!

T.H.E – As a producer, how important do you think videos are, in order to help you connect with your fans?

Luca Schreiner – I think videos are a great way of connecting emotionally with your fans! Photos are also a great tool, but they can’t really show other people what you really feel and what your vision as an artist is.

T.H.E – Lastly, what can you tell us about your plans for 2019?

Luca Schreiner – 2019 is all about releasing new original music! I’ve been busy in the studio working on new songs which can’t wait to be released. All of them sound a bit different in a way to what I’ve recently released. These songs go more into a pop direction, but you can still hear they are Luca Schreiner songs.

T.H.E – Thanks, Luca!

Luca Schreiner – Thanks for having me! :)
