T.H.E – Hi Sander Wilder, how are you?
Sander Wilder – Hey there, I’m quite good thank you for asking. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity of this interview.
T.H.E – Can you share the story of how you first fell in love with Electronic music, and what inspired you to become a DJ and producer?
Sander Wilder – I think what triggered a strong interest for me was in 2007-2008 when I was listening to a lot of different substyles, and I was quite fascinated of variety of this music and his fresh touch at that time. For sure Artists/DJ’s like Armin Van Buuren, ATB, Eric Prydz, Tiësto & many more due to their Melodic approach contributed on my desire to become a music Producer and a DJ.
T.H.E – Your music often incorporates elements of Melodic House & Techno, Progressive, and even a touch of Trance. How do you go about blending these genres to create your unique sound?
Sander Wilder – I’ve experimented in the past a lot with my music, trying to find my own musical signature, and somehow for me the melody was one of the most important aspects in music, that’s why a blend between all these substyles was somehow my focus, because I need melody & harmony, I need groove, I need atmosphere, sometimes I need more energy and intensity, all these styles mentioned above are giving me everything I need. It was lot of work and personal introspection to understand better my musical direction and now I embrace the results and still ongoing.
T.H.E – What has been the most memorable experience or moment in your musical journey so far, and how did it influence your approach to music?
Sander Wilder – Honestly, I cannot point onto a specific experience because there are many moments of different or equal intensities, and all of them slightly shaped my actual musical direction.
T.H.E – Your tracks have a distinct emotional depth and often reflect different moods. How do you channel your life experiences and emotions into your music-making process?
Sander Wilder – Having a life with different experiences, quite spontaneous at times with a full schedule and many changes in last years, somehow is like a full glass which need to be emptied and the content of it is my inspiration in music. The most curious thing is, that is never the same, creativity can strike very different from one moment to another.
T.H.E – Many artists have a signature sound or style, how would you describe your signature sound, and what makes it stand out in the Electronic music scene?
Sander Wilder – Overall, it’s an infusion between groove, melody & atmosphere, and having a good balance between all of them, plus adding deepness & energy is creating a much concrete unique style.
T.H.E – Can you tell us about your creative process? How do you typically begin working on a new track, from inspiration to final production?
Sander Wilder – My creative process can be quite random, there is no defined path. Sometimes, I just make an Initial beat/loop with some instruments which is evolving in more, sometimes I’m just playing around with controller keyboard some solo acoustic Piano riffs and at some point, something triggers a potential starting idea and I’m starting from there. If everything is in place, I’m trying to make a complete initial structure, from this point I’m deciding if the idea is worth for me to make it as a full production.
T.H.E – In your discography, you have tracks like “Edge of Tomorrow” and “Moonlight.” Could you share the stories or inspirations behind some of your favorite compositions?
Sander Wilder – Let’s talk about “Edge Of Tomorrow” the inspiration came from the main vocal element of the track. When I’ve created the vocal melody, I’ve really liked the feeling of it and a new track was born, basically in matter of hours I’ve had the core idea structured. Quite a memorable track this one.
T.H.E – As an artist based in Bucharest, Romania, how has your environment and the local music scene influenced your music and career?
Sander Wilder – Local music scene evolved quite well in the last years. The environment itself for sure put an impact on my music, being in a such diverse city, sometimes calmer, sometimes let’s say, a more intense environment. But for me, the biggest influence for my music came from all around the world.
T.H.E – What can fans and listeners expect from you in the near future? Are there any exciting projects, collaborations, or releases on the horizon?
Sander Wilder – I’m working on some new materials lately. There is already a new release out, the 6 of October called ‘Into the Abyss’ signed at OHM Music, a sub-label of Black Hole Records. And I’m preparing new releases lately. So, be ready for more.
T.H.E – Beyond music, do you have any other interests or passions that inspire your creative work or influence your musical direction?
Sander Wilder – Yes, I like remaining active, doing sports, on winter I feel that Skiing is one of the most entertaining & inspiring activities for my me. So other than that, the nature, sea-side places, and the nightlife (not only party nightlife) are some of the biggest inspirations for me.
