ARtroniks – Riddle/ Manta

ARtroniks

One artist that has a direct impact on the developing bass scene in Belgium is Arne de Meyer, more commonly known for his ARtroniks pseudonym.

The Ghent-based producer started experimenting with synths and drum computers from his father back in ‘06, which quickly led to his first collection of tracks. His early concepts of techno / house / down-tempo slowly evolved into his now innovative and accredited dubstep sound.

His stride in the scene has long made a discernible impact, with installments on quality imprints such as DUPLOC, Wheel & Deal or Mindstep. Not only has the Dubstep landscape welcomed his releases into their hearts, but also his avid DJ endeavours through regular Sub FM shows as well as gigs including festivals the size of Tomorrowland.”
Preparing for long winter nights, the innate warmth of ARtronik’s forthcoming label release debut on Bleak Winter Records has set out to showcase his originality, clothed in spherical harmonies and feathery percussion.

A two-faced exploration of the Belgian heavyweight on twelve inches of black gold – alluringly titled ‘Riddle / Manta’. Analogue synth lead melodies smoothly blend in a dubbed out, rhythmic soundscape, gradually unveiling its true nature in a fierce display of sub movement.

‘Riddle’ emancipates itself as the evil twin brother, gravitating towards menacing. Danger: high risk of mandatory rewinds. Ceaselessly alternating in between intricate drum patterns and memorable, melodic motifs, ARtroniks delivers excellency at all the right spots. The hypnotic ostinato keeps evolving throughout the sophisticated arrangement in a clever interplay of melody and rhythm.”

‘Manta’ takes on a more pensive form as string-like arpeggios put the listener’s mind at ease – carrying it away through the steady supply of low end. Embedded in ample percussive groove, based on a variety of natural drum foley, exhibiting his honed production style in a most invigorating way. Refreshing to listen to through and through, ‘BWR001’ has set the tone for the promising new imprint.
