Beyoncé gave fans in London an unforgettable night at her final show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 16, 2025.
The pop icon, known for her genre-bending talent and show-stopping performances, brought the house down with a powerful live rendition of the Beatles’ 1968 classic Blackbird.
The song, originally written by Sir Paul McCartney, was featured on Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning country album Cowboy Carter, released in 2024. Her cover reimagines the track with a soulful, heartfelt delivery that stays true to its civil rights roots while giving it new life for a modern audience.
Following the concert, Beyoncé took to Instagram to express her gratitude. Sharing a photo of herself dressed in a Blackbird-themed outfit designed by Stella McCartney daughter of the legendary Beatle she wrote, “Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made. Every time I sing it I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter’s design.”
She also gave a special shout-out to her UK fans: “Thank you, London, for creating unforgettable memories for me and my family. Holla at ‘ya when I come on tour again!”
The sentiment wasn’t one-sided. Paul McCartney, now 82, also praised Beyoncé’s version of his iconic track. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “I am so happy with @beyonce’s version of my song Blackbird. I think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place.”
McCartney revealed that he and Beyoncé had spoken on FaceTime, where she personally thanked him for the song and the opportunity to cover it. “I told her the pleasure was all mine and I thought she had done a killer version of the song,” he said.
He added that the song was originally inspired by footage he saw in the early 60s, showing Black girls being turned away from schools in the American South. “I found it shocking,” he said, “and I can’t believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now.”
McCartney closed with a call to action, encouraging fans to listen to Beyoncé’s cover if they haven’t yet. “Anything my song and Beyoncé’s fabulous version can do to ease racial tension would be a great thing and makes me very proud.”
With both artists celebrating each other and the message behind Blackbird, the collaboration is more than just a musical tribute it’s a reminder of how powerful songs can be in pushing for change. Beyoncé’s cover isn’t just a standout on Cowboy Carter it’s a standout in her entire career.
