Following the recent release of his 10-track ‘Once Upon a Time in Napoli’ production on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels label, Italian DJ and producer Davide Squillace has delivered the official video for the album, a rich and brooding production, laced with Davide’s signature drum pad beats, and clattering clap-led melodies.

An effervescent release. set in Davide’s hometown of Naples past significant landmarks and architecture such as Gaiola island and Gesù Nuovo, the official video shows Davide’s journey to the present day. Stumbling through the woodland Neapolitan areas as a child; a metaphorical journey representing Davide finding himself.

As he is left captivated by the DJ, the young, scrambling Davide connects with his future self, following a moonlit path up to his current home; behind the decks. The grown up Davide is now much more calm, as he strides towards his calling, now confident in his own destiny, as he drives the crowd with his DJing skills in the final scenes of the video. “We shot the video in a surreal Naples, magical and dreamlike.” Davide explains “It is a tribute to contemporary Neapolitan culture made by Neapolitan professionals for Naples.”

Paving the way for an exciting year ahead with several more releases in the pipeline, the album marks a pivotal chapter in Davide’s career, with the producer adding:

“‘Once upon a Time in Napoli’ is the story of my twenty years in dance music. The album covers the many textures of this journey, with influences of the early days in Naples to my Circoloco days in Ibiza. Ranging from the warmth of classic analogue synths to the crisp precision of digital beats.”

Cementing his position one of the world’s most eclectic and renowned producers, Squillace has held a residency at iconic Ibiza institution Circoloco for over ten years, and was recently touring with Matthias Tanzmann and Martin Buttrich as one third of Better Lost Than Stupid.

Well-known for his exceptional ability to pair music with visual arts, his “artistic think tank” and record label ‘This And That Lab’ has provided a number of creatives with a much-needed production outlet, often calling on them for the likes of cover art. However, it’s his constant dedication to pushing the boundaries with a multitude of new creative ideas that marks him out as a true artist. With so many new projects and ideas in the works, it still feels like the beginning of even bigger things to come for Davide, with the official video for ‘The Mood For Love’ out now.
