Loadstar have been one of the most formidable duos in the Drum & Bass circle. Formally known as Xample and Lomax, the Bristol based duo predominantly make drum and bass, but also work in other genres such as dubstep and electro. In a very short period of time, Loadstar have cemented their names as one of Europe’s biggest drum & bass acts.
Already a major draw as DJs, with many a classic performance at Fabric and beyond, Loadstar’s debuts at Glastonbury, Pukklepop, Creamfields, Las Vegas’ EDC and SW4, amongst others, saw them become a quickly acclaimed live outfit.
While, they are known for delivering some flawless anthems, Loadstar have experimented with multiple styles in the past ranging from tech drum & bass, Liquid Drum & Bass and electro.
Their album ‘Future Perfect’ was an example of the versatility they hold when it comes to their productions. The album featured a range of different styles with tracks like the gritty ‘Black & White’ featuring North London rapper Benny Banks, the breakneck tune ‘Warrior’ featuring Jakes and the Electro infused ‘Give It To Me’.
Currently touring North America as part of the 25 Years Of Ram Records tour, Loadstar have dropped new single, ‘Diamonds’ (feat. Takura), the next track from the British drum & bass stars’ soon to be announced new album. A soaring, peak-time d&b anthem, the duo have been roadtesting ‘Diamonds’ for most of this year in their sets, and based on the response so far expect this to become a firm festival favourite this season. This single also reunites them with vocalist, Takura, who, aside from featuring on tracks by Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Netsky, and Kano, last worked with Loadstar on ‘Refuse To Love’.
‘Diamonds’ follows recent single, ‘I Need The Night’; the lead single track was accompanied by ‘Guerilla’, and a storming house rework of ‘INTN’ from Dismantle. Heavy support on the package came from Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss, Beats, and beyond, with DJs including Target, Friction, Danny Howard, Annie Nightingale, Julie Adenuga, and many more.
