‘The Key’ is the name of the new release on Paco Osuna’s record label Mindshake, and it’s a groovy tech house release where old-school meets new-school.
Paco Osuna is a veteran DJ and producer who has decades of experience behind him, and a percussive style that has elements of both house and techno. He is well respected for being an old-school artist with a modern sound, and he remains one of Spain’s most iconic DJs.
Also, a talented producer, Paco Osuna has worked with some of the world’s most respected record labels ranging from Drumcode to Defected, but Mindshake is the home to most of his original tracks.
Back on Mindshake with a new EP, Paco Osuna’s new release is a collaboration with Melanie Ribbe who is at the forefront of tech house’s next generation.
Melanie Ribbe is a German artist who solidified her international following through regular DJ sets at some of Ibiza’s most prestigious events, eventually earning herself a residency at Amnesia. She is also a hotly tipped producer working with labels like Saved Records and Drumcode.
This release features three original tracks, starting with the title cut “The Key” which sets the tone with its pulsating bassline and fast-paced rhythms. The namesake vocal sample adds a focal point to the up-tempo groove that has a dark atmosphere and menacing undertones.
Track two, “Dance Tonight” is a jacking cut with fast-paced percussion and a rolling bassline layered with morphing synths that give the track a psychedelic vibe. The soulful vocals and playful lyrics give the track an upbeat energy that’s sure to get the party started.
“Shake Control” is a techy track with a quirky vibe and it closes out the release with a stripped back groove that’s filled with trippy vocals.
