Shakira’s concert in Boston, Massachusetts was cancelled just hours before she was supposed to take the stage at Fenway Park on Thursday night, May 29, 2025.
Fans were left disappointed as the highly anticipated show, part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour, was called off at the last minute due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Fenway Park posted a brief statement on its social media channels, confirming the cancellation of not just Shakira’s show, but also the Jason Aldean and Brooks Dunn concert originally scheduled for Friday, May 30. Refunds are being offered to ticket holders at their point of purchase.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks Dunn performances originally scheduled for May 29th and May 30th, respectively, at Fenway Park have been canceled. Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the statement read.
While no official reason was initially provided, reports surfaced suggesting structural concerns at the venue were behind the cancellations. According to a source speaking to PEOPLE, a routine pre-show check flagged that “structural elements were not up to standard,” prompting organizers to pull the plug on both events. Thankfully, all crew and staff are safe.
Fans flooded the comments on Fenway’s social media post, many speculating about issues with the stage roof. Although those claims remain unconfirmed, the timing of the cancellations suggests something serious enough to raise red flags during inspection.
Shakira had already arrived in Boston prior to the cancellation. On Wednesday, May 28, she posted a warm welcome message to fans on Instagram, showing a table filled with sweet treats and captioned, “Hello, Boston! What a sweet welcome!”
The pop superstar is scheduled to resume her tour on Saturday, May 31, at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. Her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour launched in Brazil back in February, and the North American leg began in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 13. The tour includes stops in major cities like Miami, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas before wrapping up on June 30 in San Francisco.
The Boston show was supposed to kick off the 2025 Fenway Concert Series, which runs through September. Other big-name acts on the lineup include Hozier, The Lumineers, the Jonas Brothers, Chris Brown, The Who, and My Chemical Romance. Hozier is set to take the stage next, with concerts on June 23 and 24.
As of now, there’s no word on whether Shakira’s Fenway Park concert will be rescheduled. Fans are advised to keep an eye on official tour and venue channels for any updates.
