Vancouver-based producer zensei ゼンセー returned to Monstercat today with his tranquil lofi EP, ‘destination heartbreak pt.1.’
The opening track, ‘dreaming of you,’ puts his meditative soundscapes on full display characterized by atmospheric pads, soft keys, and floating vocals. Considering the three-track package a collaboration with his younger self, the multi-genre producer took inspiration from his days living in Toronto, aptly naming the nostalgic track ‘spadina 3am’ after the city’s most prominent street.
Leaning into an upbeat vibe, ‘who we are’ wraps the package with a steady groove, chilled out percussion, and hypnotic vocals. With limitless talents also showcased under his house alias Eminence, fans can enjoy ‘destination heartbreak pt.1’ during study sessions to moments of reflection, and also look forward to a part two similar to his ‘wonder years’ project.
