News: Electric Zoo confirms New York return with the official 2014 trailer!

Following the tragic events of last year’s Electric Zoo, the three-day music festival’s status in New York remained in flux… until today. Organizers at Made Event have announced that Electric Zoo will be returning to Randall’s Island Park on Labor Day Weekend – August 29, 30 and 31 – for its sixth year.

“We’re thrilled to officially announce that Electric Zoo will return to its home for a sixth year, at Randall’s Island Park, NYC! We’re deeply grateful to all of you for your support, and to the artists who’ll be joining us to make this another amazing year,” Electric Zoo organizers posted earlier today on Facebook.

The festival will see more stringent security measures in place. According to the Wall Street Journal, organizers are working with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to create a safer environment for the hundreds of thousands of dance fans expected to move through the gates. Such possible methods include amnesty bins, shortening the actual event to prevent sun over-exposure and – for the first time – requiring attendees to watch an anti-drug PSA online in order to activate their wrist-bands.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Electric Zoo back to New York. Over the past five years, Electric Zoo has grown tremendously, becoming a critically acclaimed, internationally recognized music festival,” creators Mike Bindra and Laura De Palma said in a press release. ”The opportunity to again host Electric Zoo on Randall’s Island is a responsibility we take seriously, and we look forward to expanding our safety and security measures in order to further improve the concert experience for our fans.”

As a way to jump-start the hype, the news comes accompanied by a brand new festival trailer, sound-tracked by Adventure Club, The M Machine and Otto Knows. Pre-sale tickets for Electric Zoo 2014 go on sale next week, April 29, and require a user account on the Made Event official website. Check out the trailer below and pencil in those Labor Day Weekend plans.
