Long established members of the Anjunabeats family, Finnish duo Super8 & Tab set the trance world ablaze in the mid-nineties with classic anthems ‘Helsinki Scorchin’ and ‘First Aid’ and continue to do so today, with their chart-topping track, ‘Awakenings’ and their highly acclaimed debut album “Empire,” which prompted Mixmag to write “It’s a rare and wonderful thing to be blown away by an album on first listen.”

Since establishing themselves as the label’s best selling artist after Above & Beyond, the Finnish trailblazers have delivered trance of the highest quality. Now, they have released their second album titled’ Unified’ on Anjunabeats label. This 14-track album includes collaborations with vocalists Jan Burton, Julie Thompson, BT, 7 Skies and many more.

“No Frontiers” is a bold return to emotive songwriting; “No Frontiers” sees Super8 & Tab reunite with British singer / songwriter Julie Thompson. Charting the chaotic breakdown of an intense love affair, Julie’s vocals echo the darkness of the main riff, culminating in a violent and volatile hands-in-the-air breakdown.

“Let Go” sees Super8 & Tab reunite with Julie Thompson. Perfectly capturing the uplifting lyrics in its bright chord progression and effervescent energy, “Let Go” is another accomplished anthem from the Finnish duo.

“Soul Of Lovers” features the distinctive male vocals of Jan Burton. It’s dynamic and driven with high paced basslines. It has a mind blowing breakdown with ambient elements, opera vocal parts that add a sacred mystic side to it.

“Clairvoyant” brings Super8 & Tab’s distinctive twist to the modern trance sound – before arriving at a towering, intensely uplifting melodic breakdown with all the hallmarks of a classic Super8 & Tab track. It is a brilliant progressive trance track that starts quite playfully and quirky with electronic basslines.

“Forever” marries classic trance elements with a punchy contemporary groove. Featuring a vocal synth hook and soaring euphoric pads, Super8 & Tab once again demonstrate their talent for emotional trance music.

“Code Red” marks an exceptional collaboration between Super 8 & Tab and Jaytech. It starts quite minimal with chunky grooves and chopped vocal samples. The breakdown starts with cool chord progressions and plucky synths that form a euphoric melodic theme that will hypnotize the audience and definitely elevate the track to a higher level. The climax is absolutely earth shaking so you better prepare yourself to dance along.

Singer-songwriter Julie Thompson and Finnish duo Super8 & Tab collaborate for the third time on this album. They named this collaboration ‘Patience’. This track has an excellent neo-trance sound bedded with electro-kissed playful basslines, techy chunky beats and great piano chords. The luscious Balearic style melodies highlight the vocal’s strength.

“Who needs love” featuring vocals of Jan Burton is a progressive trance tune with large synths and strings melody on top. During the breakdown, Jan Burton stands out with his rockish but still sensitive voice giving a new dimension to this track and making it an uplifting Anjunabeats track.

“Memory Lane” fuses a gnarly electro-fused groove with trademark stabs and a soaring, infectious synth melody to create a party vibe. Solid beats and groovy basslines to make the dancefloor erupt in just no time plus euphoric uplifting synths in the breakdown give life to this track.

Super 8 & Tab collaborated with supremely talented BT and delivered “Aika”. “Aika” is light, fluffy, dreamy and energetic. It is cinematic, relaxing and takes listeners on a wonderful journey.

The Finnish duo collaborated with Sunny Lax from Hungary on a track named “Sonata”. The groove in this track is techy and pumping enough to make you dance.

“Antipodes” featuring 7 Skies has a great breakdown which will leave you speechless with luscious synths, neo trance music beats and heavenly melodies.

“Rubicon” by Super 8 and Tab featuring 7 Skies is a dancefloor-ready, big-room progressive house track with trance undertones. “Rubicon” is an instant ultra large crowd pleaser that will have immediate and fatal impact on the dancefloor.

Overall, after the success of their debut album “Empire”, it was a tough ask to release an album which would have the same impact as “Empire” did. However, with “Unified”, the Finnish duo have taken their sound to the next level. Filled with an innovative approach and intricate production values, you should definitely have this album on your playlist.

Grab it on Beatport.
