Being a DJ is one of the best professions in the world. As the electronic dance music scene evolves, a huge part of the youth is opting to become DJ’s.
But, it is a tedious process and requires resources. Despite the potential, it is very hard for these young DJ’s and producers to get the right support system while starting their musical journeys.
Even though the Electronic music space is competitive, it is a rare sight to see a father and son coming together to become a DJ producer duo.
From Barcelona, both Rafael and Xavi Diloy are now playing together at outdoor festivals, with the most recent one being Medusa in Valencia where they have been playing for 3 years now and are considered the ‘Techno stage residents’.
Rafael Diloy has been exposed to various genres of music all his life including rock music. His passion for electronic music is strong with a deeper love for House and Techno. Xavi Diloy on the other hand, emerged as a young DJ who played the Big Room Sound. He is known for his duet – Loves Akabados. He too like his father is a Techno devotee.
In 2014 Xavi decided to move away from the Big Room sound and re-launch his career in Barcelona. It was then in May 2014, in Barcelona, when Rafael and Xavi played together for he first time in a club in Zaragoza. When asked about that night they said – ‘It was pure magic. Playing and enjoying together, and making the crowd dance! We knew this is what we want to do together from now.”
After that the father son duo realised that they have been exchanging their tracks for years and always been each others’ support system. They then decided to form 2GEN by bringing their passions of mixing and producing music together.
Since then 2GEN has published several singles like “Oktober” (Bouncing Beats), “U.F.O.”, “Maktub”, “Ocean Groove” (Basic Groove) and”Hola” (Yin Yang Records).
The sounds in these singles vary from House to Techno. The techno space in Spain has also evolved, where 2GEN has made appearances in major outdoor festivals like like Medusa (Valencia) – where they played their latest single “Last Train”, Electrofallas (Valencia), Electromar (Alicante) and Animal Sound (Murcia), with well-known icons like – Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Joris Voorn and Adam Beyer.
So, to all the house and techno fans out there, keep an eye out for this relentless father son duo – 2GEN.
