Ben Affleck is suiting up again as Christian Wolff, and this time, things are way messier. The Accountant 2 is officially landing on Prime Video June 5, and it’s bringing back all the guns, grit, and brotherly chaos you didn’t know you needed.
If you remember the first movie, Affleck played a numbers genius with autism who moonlighted as a lethal enforcer. In the sequel, he’s dragged back into the field when a former associate winds up dead — leaving behind a message that literally says: “Find the accountant.” So yeah, subtlety’s not on the menu.
Cue Christian teaming up with his estranged (but equally dangerous) brother Braxton, played by Jon Bernthal. The two end up diving into a murder mystery that spirals into a deadly conspiracy. Along the way, they reconnect with U.S. Treasury agent Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), while fending off the kind of killers who don’t leave second chances.
So, is it worth the stream?
Critics say it’s not as slick as the first one — USA TODAY gave it ★★½ — but fans of action thrillers will still find plenty to like. There’s less math this time, more mayhem, and yes, a surprising amount of heart thanks to the central sibling storyline.
You can catch the sequel on Amazon Prime Video starting Thursday. If you’ve got a Prime membership, you’re good to go. If not, you can rent or buy it directly on the platform — no subscription required.
A few more faces show up in this round, including J.K. Simmons, Daniella Pineda, and Andrew Howard. But make no mistake: this is Affleck and Bernthal’s show. If you liked the first one, or just want something gritty and punchy to binge this weekend, this one’s probably worth a shot.
And yes, the original Accountant is still up on Prime — so you’ve got time to refresh before diving into round two.
