Todd and Julie Chrisley Score Full Pardon from Trump and Walk Free

Todd and Julie Chrisley have finally gotten a huge break after their long legal battle.

On May 27, President Donald Trump granted the couple full pardons, wiping the slate clean on their tax evasion and bank fraud convictions. The news marks a major turning point for the Chrisley family, who have been dealing with the fallout since their 2022 convictions and subsequent prison sentences starting January 2023.

Todd, 56, and Julie, 52, were originally sentenced to a combined 19 years behind bars after being indicted in 2019. Their fight didn’t end there, though, as they continuously appealed the verdict. Julie even won an initial appeal due to insufficient evidence, though that was later overturned. Their sentences were reduced in September 2023, but the couple still faced significant time in prison.

President Trump, now 78, commented on the case, saying Todd and Julie received “pretty harsh treatment” compared to what he’s heard. He also spoke directly to their children during a phone call, telling them, “It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean.” He wished them luck and sent his regards despite not knowing the family personally.

Their daughter Savannah Chrisley couldn’t hide her excitement about the pardon. In an emotional Instagram Live, she said, “My parents get to start their lives over! My phone is going bananas right now, but President Trump gave them a full, unconditional pardon and for that, I am forever grateful. Thank you, President Trump.” She also shared a heartfelt statement expressing the immense effort she put into fighting for her parents’ freedom. “For the past two and a half years, I’ve done everything in my power to fight for my parents’ freedom and bring them home. This moment is the answer to countless prayers,” Savannah said, acknowledging the support of attorney Alex Little and advocate Alice Marie Johnson in the process.

Savannah is no stranger to carrying the family load. During her parents’ imprisonment, she became the sole caretaker of their youngest children, Grayson, 19, and Chloe, 12, at just 25 years old. The family also includes Chase, 28, and Todd’s children from a previous marriage, Lindsie, 35, and Kyle, 33. Savannah has openly talked about the struggle of balancing caregiving, legal battles, and everyday life, admitting, “You fake it till you make it. That’s the world we live in.”

The pardons come after Savannah revealed earlier in 2025 that she was actively pursuing a pardon from Trump, even speaking at the Republican National Convention in 2024 in support of the former president. She said, “I know that I am going through the proper channels to do so,” and emphasized the importance of raising awareness about wrongful convictions.

With their legal troubles now behind them, the Chrisley family is gearing up for a fresh chapter on television. They will star in an upcoming Lifetime docuseries that promises to reveal the raw and unfiltered truth about their lives, something different from the scripted reality of Chrisley Knows Best and Growing Up Chrisley. Though the series hasn’t been given a release date yet, it was reported that the new show initially wasn’t going to feature Todd and Julie, making the pardons even more significant for the family’s future on screen.

This pardon not only gives Todd and Julie Chrisley a second chance but also highlights ongoing issues around the justice system and wrongful convictions. Savannah has pledged to keep fighting for others in similar situations, declaring, “Family is everything to me, and I will never stop fighting for what is right.” The Chrisleys’ story, marked by legal battles, family strength, and now a presidential pardon, is far from over, but this moment is undoubtedly a victory for them all.
