Tory Lanez stabbing suspect, Casio is far from a first-time offender.
The man accused of brutally stabbing the rapper inside prison walls is already serving a life sentence for murder, and his violent record inside prison is just as alarming as the crimes that put him there.
According to reports, Casio has been locked up in Los Angeles County since February 2004 after being convicted of second-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, and using a deadly weapon in a violent crime that also resulted in great bodily injury. His sentence: life with the possibility of parole. But the violence didn’t stop once he was inside.
In January 2008, Casio was slapped with an additional six-year sentence by Imperial County after he was found guilty of assault by a prisoner with a deadly weapon. The charge wasn’t minor, this was an in-prison offense involving force likely to cause great bodily injury. Then, in June 2018, Casio was sentenced yet again, this time to two more years for possession or manufacture of a deadly weapon inside prison. This guy has been violent behind bars for nearly two decades and somehow still had access to a weapon to carry out a savage attack on a high-profile inmate.
The victim? None other than Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was convicted on three serious charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. His trial and sentencing made headlines, drawing major attention to celebrity violence and accountability. Now, he’s back in the spotlight, this time as a victim.
The details of the attack are horrifying. According to a statement posted on Lanez’s official Instagram page, he suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident. The post revealed that Lanez was stabbed seven times in the back, four times in the torso, twice in the back of the head, and once on the left side of his face. The injuries were so severe that both of his lungs collapsed. He had to be placed on a breathing apparatus to survive the initial aftermath.

At the time of the Instagram update, Lanez had begun breathing on his own again, which his team called a positive sign. “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the message read. It also noted his gratitude for fans’ “continued prayers and support.”
So far, no official charges have been announced in connection with the stabbing. But given Casio’s past, including his previous in-prison offenses and the fact that he’s a convicted murderer, many are questioning how he had the opportunity to launch such a vicious attack on Lanez.
This incident shines a harsh light on the prison system and the dangers it poses even for high-profile inmates. It also raises questions about inmate placement, weapon access, and overall security measures, especially when known violent offenders like Casio have a history of continuing their attacks behind bars.
For Tory Lanez, this stabbing adds another traumatic chapter to a life already clouded by legal troubles, public scrutiny, and controversy. While some continue to focus on his conviction in the Megan Thee Stallion case, others are now sending messages of support and hoping for his full recovery.
One thing is certain: the man accused of stabbing him is no stranger to violence. Casio’s rap sheet is stacked with serious charges that span not just before his incarceration but throughout it. From murder and attempted murder to multiple in-prison assaults with deadly weapons, Casio has proven to be a danger again and again.
At this point, the question isn’t just about why Tory Lanez was stabbed, but how someone like Casio, with a long history of deadly violence even behind bars, was in a position to carry out such a brutal attack. Prison officials have yet to explain what led to the stabbing or what disciplinary or legal actions will be taken next. But fans and critics alike are watching closely.
Tory Lanez, once again, finds himself in the headlines, not for what he did, but for what was done to him. And it’s the kind of story that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about prison, safety, and justice.
