Marty Guilfoyle And Kyla Belle Spill All On “Lights Out”

After lighting up the holidays with Wrap Up Christmas, Irish DJ and producer Marty Guilfoyle has teamed up once again with rising pop vocalist Kyla Belle for something a little hotter – ‘Lights Out’. This feel-good dance track blends festival vibes with pure summer emotion, and fans are already calling it a contender for anthem of the summer 2025.

In this exclusive Marty Guilfoyle and Kyla Belle interview, the duo open up about their creative chemistry, the behind-the-scenes chaos of pulling a banger together, and what it really takes to make a song that works just as well in a sweaty club as it does on a daytime radio playlist.

T.H.E: Let’s talk about this collaboration. What made you team up again after Wrap Up Christmas?

Marty: Honestly, Kyla made it easy. When I first worked on her Christmas track, she was super chill and such a joy to deal with. So when I was sitting on Lights Out and needed a strong vocal, she was top of my list. She loved the track right away, and the rest is history.

Kyla: I didn’t even need convincing. The vibe between us was already great from the last track. Once Marty showed me Lights Out, I was buzzing. I knew I had to jump on it.

T.H.E: Did you have a certain vibe or setting in mind when creating Lights Out?

Marty: Yeah, 100%. I’ve been into faster tempos lately, but I still want stuff that works on the radio and doesn’t alienate the club crowd. This track had to feel like summer-uplifting, energetic, and something people would sing along to.

T.H.E: Marty, how does your background in radio shape your approach to producing tracks like this?

Marty: I’ve spent over a decade watching what music directors are looking for and what makes crowds go wild. That experience definitely guides my decisions. But sometimes it’s tough-I might love drum and bass, for example, but I know that’s a bit of a gamble in Ireland. Still… never say never.

T.H.E: Kyla, your vocals really elevate this song. What inspired your performance?

Kyla: Thanks! I actually recorded it in London in February, so not exactly summery, haha. But I imagined being at a huge outdoor festival, with the sun blazing, and just channeled that energy. I had Zara Larsson in my head the whole time-that pop-meets-power vibe.

T.H.E: The song has both club energy and mainstream appeal. Was that intentional?

Marty: For sure. I’m a sucker for big, cheesy pop moments. I went through a phase of just doing covers, but now I want originals that people belt out on nights out. Sing-along hooks are the goal.

T.H.E: You two clearly click creatively. Any moments that really proved that?

Marty: Here’s the wild part, we’ve never even been in the studio together! Everything’s been remote. But we’ve never had a single disagreement. Our messages are emoji-filled and just good vibes all the way. That kind of connection is rare.

T.H.E: Ireland’s music scene is really popping off lately. How does it feel being part of that?

Marty: It’s unreal. There’s so much homegrown talent breaking through. What makes Irish artists stand out is how real we are-there’s so much heart in what we create, and I think people connect with that globally.

T.H.E: What made you go with 95 Records and Rubyworks again for this release?

Marty: I’ve worked with them a few times now, and they’re honestly incredible. Everything runs smoothly, and they really believe in the music. I’m proud to be on their roster.

T.H.E: You’re both super busy-how do you stay creatively inspired?

Marty: Life itself is inspiring. Sometimes it’s a small moment-a TikTok, a random lyric-that sparks something big. You just need to keep your eyes open.

Kyla: Totally agree. I try to make time for gigs, discover new sounds, and hang with mates. All of that keeps the creative battery charged.

T.H.E: Final one-what do you want fans to feel when they hear Lights Out?

Marty: Golden. That’s the word.

Kyla: Yep! “Golden and lost in the moment”, tha”t’s actually a lyric in the song, and it sums up the whole vibe. We want people to feel lifted, like they’re in the middle of something magical.

With Lights Out, Marty Guilfoyle and Kyla Belle have created more than just a song-it’s a moment. One that’ll live loud at festivals, on radio playlists, and in sun-soaked memories all summer long.
