Bensley

After exclusively signing to the imprint in 2015, Canadian producer Bensley has delivered consistent and high-quality productions, that have helped him remain at the height of his game, building a career from his pivotal debut LP ‘Next Generation’.

After a range of taste-maker support, from Zane Lowe, to underground heavyweights Noisia and Radio 1’s Mistajam, he’s remained one of RAM’s most exciting signings.

Bensley’s sound has the RAM Records polish but it manages to avoid the traditional D&B sub-genre pigeon-holes aptly. Seamlessly combining IDM and Ambient textures in his music, Bensley is one of the finest producers on the RAM Records Roster.

Following the release of his genre-bending single ‘Ascension’, which saw the producer explore another side of his production, Bensley returned for another groundbreaking track on RAM Records. Featuring vocals of MC Armanni Reign, who’s helped to pioneer the merging of hip hop and drum & bass throughout America, Bensley gave us an alternative take on the drum & bass prototype with ‘Do It Again’ and to celebrate this release, Bensley has shared his Essential set picks featuring some solid drum & bass bangers.

Bensley – Ascension

This is a recent release from myself that seems to have received a lot of support from the DJ world. This tune mixes with anything, and I have even more fun playing it out than I did making it!

Cyantific – Body Movin’ ft. ShockOne

Love the 80’s vibes on this record, and the main theme is super addictive. I’ve got a soft spot for a hearty dancefloor anthem like this!

Dimension – Techno

As dark and heavy as we’ve come to expect from Dimension. Rocks the club every time.

Muzzy & Flite – Elevate ft. Miss Trouble

Huge record from my friends Muzzy & Flite! This slots in nicely during a high-energy part of my set; the production just tears the crowd’s faces off.

Camo & Krooked – Broken Pieces ft. Nihils (Culture Shock Remix)

Camo & Krooked’s “Mosaik Remixes” LP featured a heap of fresh takes on their even fresher 2017 album tracklist, but this remix Culture Shock pulled together is something special! I expected nothing but gold from this, and wasn’t disappointed.

Fatboy Slim – Right Here Right Now (Friction & Killer Hertz Remix)

This one is a given. You’d better believe that if Fatboy Slim’s biggest hit is getting the DnB treatment, then I’ll be playing it.

Ownglow – LA

Super underrated tune by my man Ownglow! Really great for the deeper parts of the set, and it carries so much weight!

Voicians – Breathe

Voicians absolutely killed it with his cover of Eric Prydz – Breathe. He sounds exactly like Rob Swire on this record, and it’s a lot of fun to play out a DnB version of such an iconic track.

Zeds Dead – Undah Yuh Skirt ft. Mavado

This has been a weapon in my sets for a long time. I don’t play it nearly as often as I used to, but when the vibe is right I can’t resist. I think it was overlooked by the Drum & Bass scene when it was released, so not many people seem to know it!

Bensley – Do It Again ft. Armanni Reign

This is my newest single, and I love playing this one out! The drop always catches people off guard and gets a nice reaction, and it’s really easy to double-drop with other tracks as well.
