Fresh off their recent single in September, Ghost returns with their dance-inducing track, “No Control,” in collaboration with electronic music producer MADREX with vocals from rising singer-songwriter DAINA.
Drawing inspiration from each artist’s personal journey through the pandemic, the track has addictive hooks that encapsulate feelings of loneliness and isolation with a desire for freedom.
Ghost shares, “‘No Control’ represents the feeling of helplessness we felt during the recent COVID-19 period in the last two years – to not be in control of situations around us and just really looking for something to hold on to get by. We hope the song conveys and allows us to share that moment and emotion to our listeners, and also to let them know they aren’t alone in this.”
MADREX adds, “For the ones feeling trapped and stuck and want to break free.”
DAINA concludes, “This is my first official release as a songwriter and a featured artist! “No Control” is a song written in the middle of the pandemic, perfectly encapsulating the loneliness and longing for freedom that I believe everyone has felt at least once in this time frame. I’d like to thank my collaborators Roland and Paddy, for co-writing this with me as well as Ghost and MADREX who believed in my voice and gave me the opportunity to be on this amazing track! Big thanks to Monstercat, especially for being a legend and giving us the support!”
To date, Ghost has received over 4 Million global streams on Spotify, over 80 Million streams across Chinese platforms including NetEase, QQ Music, and Douyin, and performed at over 1,000 events, including major Asian festivals such as EDC China, VAC, and Dreamland – receiving positive praise as one of the most exciting and entertaining electronic groups to watch.
