Snack Mix Recall Hits New England Over Hidden Allergens

New England Village Foods just issued an urgent recall for its “19th Hole Snack Mix” after discovering undeclared almonds and a mislabeled sesame warning on the product.

The company, based in Milford, NH, announced that all 5-ounce and 10-ounce containers of the mix are affected. This recall is serious business for anyone allergic to almonds or sesame, since both allergens can cause severe, potentially life-threatening reactions.

The recalled snack mix was sold in small grocery stores and convenience shops across New England, Pennsylvania, and New York. It came in clear cups and tubs with reclosable lids, marked with UPC 609465693477 for the 5-ounce size and 642147152459 for the 10-ounce, printed in black ink on the lids. Despite containing almonds and sesame, the packaging failed to properly list both in the “Contains” statement, which led to the recall after a customer raised the red flag.

Turns out the label did mention sesame in the ingredient list, but completely skipped it in the allergen warning, and almonds weren’t mentioned at all. After a deeper FDA review, it was clear the problem stemmed from a temporary hiccup in the packaging process. That mistake could’ve cost people with allergies far more than just a bad snack experience. Thankfully, there haven’t been any reports of illness linked to the product so far.

New England Village Foods has temporarily halted production while they sort this mess out. In the meantime, anyone who bought the 19th Hole Snack Mix should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked. And if you’re wondering what to do or have concerns, the company’s taking calls Monday through Friday from 7AM to 4PM Eastern at 1.603.554.1873.

This recall highlights how important it is to check your snack labels, and that even trusted brands can slip up. It’s a sharp reminder that allergen labeling is more than just a formality. When it goes wrong, the consequences can be life-threatening.
