Stereosonic 2015’s first stop in Sydney didn’t go quite as planned after the death of one attendee, as another was hospitalised and several others arrested.
Taking place at the Sydney Olympic Park, Stereosonic is one of Australia’s biggest multi-city EDM festivals. The festival is scheduled to visit Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane in the coming weeks, though we urge everyone to be careful after what just happened in Sydney.
One attendee was taken off of the grounds to the nearby Concord Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. As of now, the circumstances behind the 25-year-old’s passing are not known. Another attendee, 22-years-old, is currently in critical condition in Westmead Hospital, after being put into a medically induced coma. Shocking right? There’s more!
69 people were charged with the supply and possession of drugs, while 23 were given cautions for the possession of marijuana. Despite authorities’ coordinated efforts to provide a secure and safe experience for their 50,000+ attendees, the event management is facing a serious problem on their hands. Police at the event (and probably all our readers) were alarmed by the amount of arrests and behavior of the festival’s attendees.
