Arne Slot isn’t popping champagne just yet, the Liverpool boss has made it crystal clear, his team still has work to do before the Premier League title is officially theirs. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s high-stakes clash with Tottenham, Slot reminded everyone that Liverpool needs at least a draw to clinch it, and until that happens, the focus has to stay razor sharp.
Slot knows the pressure is on. This would be Liverpool’s first title win since the 2020 Covid-hit season, and the buzz around Anfield is electric. But the Dutchman isn’t letting any of that get to him or the squad. “We know there’s still a job to do,” he said. “We need at least one point. That is what we know and, hopefully, what our fans know as well.”
Fans may already be planning the celebrations, but Slot is staying grounded. He stressed how important it is for supporters to show up and bring their energy on Sunday, not for a party, but to push the team over the line. “It’s a big responsibility,” he said. “It’s a nice game to look forward to but also a responsibility we have for Sunday.”
Slot isn’t even letting the recent win over Leicester make him comfortable. “It was hard to get the win over the line,” he admitted. “I’m not getting carried away at all.” That kind of mindset has defined his first season at Liverpool, which has gone surprisingly smoothly since he took over from club legend Jürgen Klopp.
Winning trophies is just expected when you manage Liverpool, and Slot knows that well. “When you walk through the doors here or at Anfield, you know this club has to win trophies,” he said. He didn’t change much about the team’s style but made sure the returning players understood the standard. That standard? Win everything.
Now, with one last point standing between them and glory, Slot is laser-focused on the task ahead. No early celebrations. No distractions. Just one game, one goal, and then maybe, just maybe, Anfield can erupt. But until then, he wants cool heads and full commitment.
