Over the years, we have seen a relentless rise of Indian artists making a mark in the scene. We have seen the likes of Lost Stories, Zaeden and many more turn into big names in the industry and they have been making us proud by making a name for themselves internationally.

Once such Indian act that has caught our eye is Mumbai based duo, Audio Addict. Since the inception of their project in early January 2015 with their debut album ‘BrickWall’, Prem Pratik and Kashish have been one of the country’s most appreciated performers making waves across the club circuit and music festivals. Musicians, producers, DJs, pianists. The duo also acquired second position in the All India Music Production contest held by one of the best music schools in the country, Seamedu.

They have also notched up performances with top and legendary artists across the globe like Above & Beyond, WolfPack, Herobust, Habstrakt, Quintino, Azax Syndrome and also Indian dance music legend Nucleya. Holding multiple talents to manipulate the correct music they also have performed for premium brands like Road To Tomorrowland, Road To Ultra, Amsterdam Dance Event, vH1 Supersonic, Mood Indigo and a lot of other campus music festivals in India.

The duo have now released their first music video, Banaras Blues. Banaras Blues is the first official music video of their music video series of 12 episodes which are based on 12 magical cities of India.

The video was shot in a week during October at various locations in Varanasi and is directed by the award winning filmmaker Nitesh Pradhan, The music video takes you amidst the omniscient Ganga river twinkling with a thousand lights, Ghats, Bedecked and tinseled for the occasion. Pealing temple bells and the call of an ancient city.

The song is very energetic and up-tempo which fits the vibrant fun colors of the music video. Musically the song is blissful which also inspires the use of the colors and interesting compositions to give it the happy vibe it deserves. The song does however feature a bit of an edge and to accompany that, they chose ritual locations.

The tune is a really good example of immaculate arrangements. Banaras Blues have a heavy influence of modern vocal chopping techniques blended with acoustic guitars and bass heavy beats. The drop is very unique on the bass side as well as the arrangement spectrum.

Speaking on the launch, Audio Addict quoted “We recently visited Varanasi and realized the city has its own rhythm and if you look closely you too can feel it’s song. Our evenings in Varanasi would often be lit up by impromptu jamming of anything from the drum or sitar to tabla on the ghats and nights would end with the last aarti of the day. From dawn to dusk there were sitars being tuned, sarods rehearsed, tablas mastered and the nuances of various raagas being discussed. We knew this has to be the subject of our next song we were about to write.”

This episode’s music video is officially available on YouTube and the audio track will also be released shortly on Indian music streaming portals like Saavn, Gaana, Apple Music and more.

Audio Addict will also be doing a Banaras Blues India Tour this December where they will be dropping this track alongside a lot of unreleased tracks and upcoming future episodes from the same album.
