Sweden’s Trunkfunk Records returns with a brand new single from hotly tipped producer Ander B.
The Trunkfunk label has been pushing out quality electronic music from it’s Gothernburg base for fifteen years now. Trunkfunk has had an open hearted approach to its releases which have featured house, electronica and bumpy urban beats since 2000.
For this latest offering the imprint turns to latin talent ‘Ander B’ for three cuts of deep and cultured house music with strong old school Chicago influences. The release is also complimented by a unique artwork by reknowned artists Babak Shermond & Johan Amberg.
The record opens up with the excellent ‘Yes Toro’ the deepest of deep disco treatments, transforming the track with slowed-down FX and classic US house drums that take it back to the darkened basement clubs that lay beneath city street.
In compliment to ’Yes Toro’, Ander B follows up with ‘Gitana’. It bristles with a powerful kick that plays against the tracks vintage guitar melody, before taking a sharp left turn into a menacing and suspenseful deep-house territory.
The EP is completed with ’Street Knowledge’, sparkling, shuffling deepness; the track becomes marked by swung beats and DIY percussion, and a unique rhythmic lilt.
This is a sublime package from a producer that deserves our attention.
