Miles Teller Teams Up with a Magical Possum for His Next Movie

Miles Teller is diving into the bizarre and hilarious with his latest film, Possum Song, where he stars as a Nashville music sensation with a seriously shady secret.

Directed by Sing Sing filmmaker Greg Kwedar, the upcoming comedy will see Teller play Eddie, a country star who rose to fame by secretly stealing the songs that made up his hit debut album. But now the pressure is on. He’s got a follow-up album to write, a new wife, a baby on the way, and absolutely no inspiration left.

That’s when Eddie stumbles across the most unexpected muse imaginable: a magical possum with insane musical talent. Yes, a literal possum. The creature helps Eddie tap into a whole new sound, but their collaboration comes at a risky price that could change everything.

Teller isn’t just the lead, he’s also producing Possum Song alongside Lee Stobby. The movie is being fully financed and produced by FilmNation Entertainment, with Greg Kwedar and Clint Bentley also producing under their Ethos banner. The screenplay is written by Isaac Adamson, known for blending comedy with unique storytelling twists.

Ben Browning, FilmNation’s President of Motion Pictures, described the film as “a one-of-a-kind” cinematic experience. He praised Kwedar’s vision and Teller’s performance, promising a movie packed with “showstopping music, visceral shocks, possums, humor, and emotion.”

This isn’t the only big project Miles Teller has lined up for 2025. He’s also set to star in Winter Games, a drama directed by Paul Downs Colaizzo for Paramount Pictures. The film explores the intense pressure faced by Olympic athletes and centers around a self-destructive hockey legend and an overlooked skier whose stories intertwine in the Olympic Village through themes of romance and redemption. Teller is also producing this one alongside Tim and Trevor White, who previously worked with him on the upcoming rom-com Eternity, which co-stars Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner.

And that’s not all, Teller is reuniting with director Jason Hall for the manhunt thriller Wild Game, which stars him and Casey Affleck. The movie is based on the true story of Claude Dallas, a notorious survivalist who lived off-grid and lived by his own code. Teller previously worked with Hall on Thank You for Your Service in 2017 and says he’s excited to explore the gritty, layered role of Dallas once filming begins.

From starring in massive hits like Top Gun: Maverick to diving into quirky comedies like Possum Song, Miles Teller is clearly not slowing down. His upcoming slate proves he’s willing to take risks, play outside the box, and maybe even jam out with a musically gifted marsupial.
