Subnautica 2 is diving into uncharted waters – it’s their biggest and boldest yet!

The wait is almost over, Subnautica fans! The sequel you’ve been craving is on the way, and according to lead designer Anthony Gallegos, Subnautica 2 will be the biggest and most ambitious game in the series yet.

Known for its deep underwater exploration and survival mechanics, the new game will take everything that made the original hits to new depths – literally and figuratively.

Unknown Worlds Entertainment has been working on Subnautica 2 since 2022, and with a release window set for later this year, fans are in for a treat. Gallegos shared in a recent video that the team is pulling all the stops to make this the best Subnautica yet. “We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from our experience on the previous games, and we’ve poured it into Subnautica 2,” he said, promising a truly exciting and expanded experience.

Not only will you be able to dive deeper into new biomes, but for the first time ever, Subnautica 2 will introduce co-op gameplay, letting you explore the vast ocean with friends. This new feature will completely change how players experience the game, allowing for shared adventures and strategies in the deep sea. But don’t worry if you prefer to go solo – each descent into the depths will still be just as thrilling, whether you’re with friends or flying solo.

Gallegos also mentioned that the studio has brought in some fresh talent, alongside the experienced veterans of the Subnautica series, ensuring the game is in good hands. The team is currently preparing for early access to launch later in 2025, and they are eager for fan feedback. The developers encourage players to reach out via Discord and other social media channels to share their thoughts on the game’s content.
