Why “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” Is a Huge Hit on PS5

Indiana Jones is cracking his whip a lot harder on PlayStation 5 than anywhere else. ‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’ is reportedly selling 28 percent faster on PS5 than it did on Steam, shipping around 117,000 copies in its first week compared to roughly 91,000 on Valve’s platform. The MachineGames action-adventure title launched on Sony’s console earlier this month, on April 17, 2025, and the numbers are looking pretty good so far.

According to Alinea analyst Rhys Elliott, total sales for ‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’ have already crossed 310,000 copies, with strong momentum on PlayStation. Elliott even expects the PS5 version to eventually blow past these early numbers. As for Xbox Series X|S players, the situation’s a little different. Most players on Microsoft’s platform didn’t actually buy the game because it dropped straight into Game Pass. Elliott estimates nearly five million Xbox users have played ‘The Great Circle’ since its December 2024 launch, but yeah, subscription perks mean fewer actual purchases.

Elliott also dropped some interesting crossover stats. Apparently, 80 percent of PlayStation players who enjoyed ‘Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection’ also dove into ‘The Great Circle.’ Meanwhile, crossover numbers with ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ and ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ sit at 45.8 percent and 45.5 percent, respectively. It makes sense when you think about it, fans of treasure hunting and epic adventures naturally find their way to Indiana Jones sooner or later.

It looks like Indy’s latest outing is shaping up to be a big win for PlayStation, even with Game Pass giving Xbox players an easy way to jump in.
